Please join us for our Lavender Transplant and Rock Mulch Volunteer Work Weekend at our new farm and community in Sandymush, NC -- Spiral Mountain.
Spiral Mountain is a 34-acre farm with five cabins. We envision people living in community together here and growing much of our own food, including both annual vegetables and permaculture perennials. We have already installed an orchard, a lavender field, and hundreds of woodland medicinals in our forests.
During this work weekend, we will be transplanting the last twenty or thirty mature lavender plants from Old Field into the new field at Spiral Mountain. And we will be putting rock mulch around the six hundred plants that are already becoming established in the field.
If you are interested in being involved with the goings-on at Spiral Mountain in some capacity, this work weekend would be a great opportunity to plug in. We invite you to join us, whether it's just for a day, for several days and nights, or for the whole weekend.
We have roughly eight beds we can offer to volunteers in cabins with electricity, plumbing, kitchens, and bathrooms. These cabins are fancy (by my standards). If you'd like a bed, please say so when you RSPV. We'll reserve beds for people on a first come first serve basis. Volunteers are also welcome to camp on the land if you'd prefer.
Also, we'll feed you! Three square meals a day. (If you'd like to bring your own snacks or other foodstuffs to share, please do. I always like to bring my own snacks. I get it.) If you have dietary preferences/restrictions, please let us know!
*Please be aware that Spiral Mountain has lots of bugs, bees, ticks, dogs, goats, sheep, cows, horses, ducks, chickens, turkeys, pigs, etc., either on site or nearby. We also have a no-chemical policy -- even for bees. Which means there are bees nests that we simply respect. If this doesn't work for you, then volunteering here probably isn't a good fit.
Thank you, friends! We look forward to seeing you on Spiral Mountain!
Directions: The address is 96 Randall Cove Rd. When you pull this address up on Google, the map says Randall Glen. Randall Glen is our next door neighbor. They have a big red barn house and lots of animals. You cannot miss them. The dirt road is tiny, and it has twists and turns that Google won’t tell you about. The following is the easiest way to get here: After you turn on Surrett Cove Rd, follow signs for Randall Glen all the way up the hill, and eventually, drive through Randall Glen. At the top of the hill after you pass through Randall Glen, there will be a gate. Please come on in, but close the gate behind you! You’re almost here! The cabins of Spiral Mountain are just around the bend.
